Israeli company develops seaweed-based gel to protect the heart

MFA: Israeli company BioLineRx has used common brown seaweed as a base for a gel that can sheath the heart muscles with a protective scaffold after cardiac arrest. The company, founded in 2003, has licensed the use of its BL 1040 gel to a New Jersey-based company. It is the most expensive seaweed known to medical history: a new heart-healing gel based on brown seaweed has just been rewarded with a record investment deal.
